A mandatory initiative for engineering students to develop technical, societal, and professional skills
As per the guidelines of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), all undergraduate engineering students are required to earn AICTE Activity Points as part of their academic programme. This initiative is designed to ensure that students gain not only technical knowledge but also practical exposure, leadership skills, and societal engagement.
The programme encourages students to participate in real-world problem solving, innovation, rural development, sustainability initiatives, and national missions.

50 Activity Points
Each activity typically requires approximately 80 to 90 hours over a duration of 2 weeks and carries a maximum of 20 activity points.
To complete the required 100 activity points, students need to invest approximately:
These activities can be carried out during weekends, holidays, or across semesters as per the student’s convenience.
Many students find it difficult to identify suitable projects, organize activities, or complete the required activity points within the given timeframe.
Without proper guidance, students often struggle with project selection, execution, and documentation.
The Society and Engineers Club (SEC) at MSRIT AICTE IDEA Lab provides a structured platform to help students identify real-world problems, work on impactful projects, and successfully earn their AICTE activity points.
Through SEC, students get access to mentorship, IDEA Lab facilities, interdisciplinary collaboration, and guided project execution.
